John the Baptist wasn’t a balanced guy

John the Baptist wasn’t a balance guy!

John the Baptist wasn’t a balanced guy

“John’s clothes were woven from coarse camel hair, and he wore a leather belt around his waist. For food he ate locusts and wild honey. People from Jerusalem and from all of Judea and all over the Jordan Valley went out to see and hear John. And when they confessed their sins, he baptized them in the Jordan River.”
Matthew 3:4-6, NLT

I would like to point out that Jesus wasn’t a balanced guy either. Look at this comment: “But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of” (John 4:32 KJV). That was a highly unusual thing for someone to say. We know now that Jesus was speaking spiritually, not naturally – but it explains why He lost mega followers that day.

I am very aware that it could be easy for someone to run the wrong way with what I’m saying here. Please take the time to read properly and understand the angle I’m coming from, and not read into it what I’m not saying. I want to inspire you and stir up the gift of God inside you.

Question

So how long are you going to live a mediocre Christian life? Don’t you feel there is more to Christianity than what you are currently living out? Some of you reading this will understand what I’m trying to say. Some of you may be thinking, “He’s being real judgmental!” Stay with me, and hopefully you’ll get what I’m saying.

Speaking for myself, I refuse to settle with being ordinary when God put His ‘extraordinary’ inside of me, and inside of every one of us believers. Do you need help breaking out of the norm? Do you need some guidance? Well, maybe this can help you to go from a nominal life to an extraordinary life.

Begin here

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
Romans 12:2, NLT

As un-normal as John the Baptist was, people still flocked to hear his message. Look what Jesus said about him:

“I tell you the truth, of all who have ever lived, none is greater than John the Baptist. Yet even the least person in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he is!”
Matthew 11:11, NLT

So keep living your balanced, mediocre life if you want. Or you can open the door to the extraordinary and live the most exciting life a human could ever live: the On Fire Christian life.
Oh, here’s another thing:

“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.”
Matthew 16:24-25, NLT

Just think on that for a moment!

Confession

I am not going to live an ordinary life. I am going to live an EXTRAORDINARY LIFE!

Prayer

Jesus, I want to be like You, Lord. I want the Bible to come alive to me. I want to see the deaf hear, the blind see, and the lame walk through my life. I know it starts with me. Amen.
