08 Oct How to receive the desires of your heart
Psalms 37:3 KJV
“Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give the desires of your heart.”
The Webster Dictionary defines the word “delight” as a high degree of satisfaction or pleasure. Also the word “desire” means to long or hope for. Even though they are not the Hebrew meaning of the words I can see a similarity. I will get to that later on. God is saying, He will give you the desires of your heart. THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A MOMENT—what are your desires?
One thing for sure: your desires are NOT greater than how much God desires YOU! So this is not a performance thing but about who you are and to whom you belong. Jesus purchased us with His blood and we belong to Him and we have an inheritance, not just waiting for us when we die, but for us now. You see, we are not going to become children of God. We are the Sons of God
John 1:12 KJV
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
So by faith we can tap into our inheritance in this life now. For we have eternity in us. It is important that you know that God has a plan for your life and allow me to point this out; He has a plan for your WHOLE LIFE for it doesn’t terminate when you turn a certain age, although your assignments on earth may change. So Its good to know that He has a plan not just for certain portions of your life but a plan for the Full LENGTH OF YOUR LIFE. Is it important or you to believe this. You may ask, “Why is it important?”
Because if you do not believe this then you will not seek God about the plan for the next season of your life. Only people who believe this will seek God about the plan for their life. I love this passage.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (if you truly believe He has a plan) “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (see that, you will seek Him for the plan if you believe He has one for you)
The desires that are in your heart are there for a reason. I’m not talking about “evil desires” but the true hot fiery passionate desires that God has placed in your heart. The good news is that our lovely God has made a way for every desire He put in our heart to come to pass.
STORY OF WAREHOUSE IN HEAVEN
A precious saint’s time on earth had ended and went to heaven. As an angel was showing him around his mansion when the man took notice of a huge warehouse in his backyard. So he asked, what’s that? “Oh never mind it doesn’t matter now,” the angel responded. “Really,” the man responded? Show it to me anyways. So the angel brought him inside the warehouse and the man saw acres of marvellous things, piled on each other on racks. Everything he saw, he really liked and then he said: “now tell me what is this is about.” Well, the angel concluded, “these are all the desires that were in your heart that never came to pass while you were on earth because you didn’t pursue or ask for them and like I said it doesn’t matter now.”
LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY TO THIS NEXT SCRIPTURE
John 3:27 KJV
“John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.”
The Word says YOU HAVE NOT BECAUSE YOU ASK NOT.
LISTEN, if we do not receive the desires that are in our heart; it is not God’s fault but ours, for the all the promises God gave you, all the rhema words you received and all the prophecies spoken over your life are always CONDITIONAL. There is a key two-letter word in receiving the desires of our heart: “IF”
We cannot just be hearers of the word but doers of the word… let’s take another look.
Psalms 37:3-5 KJV
1)“Trust in the Lord, and 2)do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.” 3)“Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” 4) “Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” “Delight yourself “ in the Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary: to be soft or pliable/before the Lord
There is a natural heart and there is our spiritual heart inner man/spirit man the real you! Physically speaking; the human heart is an amazing instrument of God’s creation. From the moment it begins beating until the moment it stops, the human heart works tirelessly. In an average lifetime, the heart beats more than two and a half billion times, without ever pausing to rest. Like a pumping machine, the heart provides the power needed for life.
Spiritually, the Bible speaks a great deal about the heart. We are told that
Jeremiah 17:9 KJV
“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?
PROVERBS 4:23 KJV
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
-
TRUST (BELIEVE)
-
DO GOOD (ACT ON THE WORD)
-
DELIGHT (BE PLIABLE UNTO GOD)
-
COMMIT (DETERMINED)
-
ATTRACT (THOUGHTS YOU THINK & WORDS YOU SPEAK)
This is already operating in your life. You are attracting or repelling people, things and stuff that happens in your life by the way you think and speak… THINK ABOUT That… By attract I mean that We have to create the environment for our desire to come to pass Law of Attraction: is not the new age thingy stuff about materialism but the creative power that God revealed in the creation: KEEP IN MIND GOD’S VISION: It was the creation of Man… so he had to create the environment for Adam and EVE before he could put them in it.
Have you thought about the environment you want to be in next year…? Your kids?
Proverb 23:7 KJV
As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.
GENESIS 1:2-3 KJV
“And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”
ROMANS 4:17 KJV
“(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
Mark 11:22-26 KJV
“And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore (spiritual law) I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray (say), believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Here’s the condition: IF
“And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
“Pastor, I don’t have the faith to do this.”
Really? Were you born Again? Then you have the God Kind of Faith.
Romans 10:17 KJV
Faith cometh by hearing, hearing the Word of God
KEEP note Paul is writing to believers here:
Romans 12:3c KJV
“according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
2 Peter 1:1 KJV
“Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:”
2 Peter 1:1 NLT
“This letter is from Simon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to you who share the same precious faith we have. This faith was given to you because of the justice and fairness of Jesus Christ, our God and Savior.”
According to this passage, we have the share the same precious faith with Jesus, Peter, James and John. Do you think for one moment God would fill us with a spirit that was inadequate, Insufficient, subpar to the battles we will face in our life? Absolutely not. Remember He gave us POWER TO BECOME THE SONS OF GOD
2 Peter 1:3-4 NLT
“By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.”
Let’s pray!
Father God, In Jesus Name we ask that your Holy Spirit will reveal to us the true desires that you have put in our heart. We want to remain pliable to you and willing and ready to do what our Master calls us to do. We pray when you do reveal it to us we will cultivate our enthusiasm in each matter. We will not give up or give in to the temptation of procrastination or condemnation when we do come short. We know that even though our beginning is small, in our latter days we will greatly increase. So we will never ever never give up.
Mark 4:30-32 KJV
“And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.”
